Fourteen varsity teams from 10 schools arrived at the Lafayette River to find temps in the lower 80's relatively flat seas, easterly winds in the high single digits, gusting into the low teens. In late morning, the wind clocked to SE. Barely after the varsity sailors returned to shore around 3, the wind built and a downpour drenched those still cleaning up.
The Varsity regatta accomplished 6 races in each of 2 divisions on a W-4 course. Norfolk Academy Team 1 took first place, barely beating out the second place team with 20 points. Christchurch Team 1 narrowly missed first, finishing in second with 21 points. Norfolk Collegiate School had a well earned third with 49 points and a 22 point spread to the fourth place team.
In the same conditions, on the JV course, nine teams representing 5 schools completed a practice race followed by 7 single division races on a W-4 course before the no start after time of 1:00. Norfolk Collegiate School earned first place with 17 points. Poquoson followed closely behind with 18 points. Hampton Roads Academy came in third with 22 points leaving an 18 point gap to fourth place.
