Baker Trophy-ISSA Team Race Champs

This morning the Baker Trophy is underway with the first 12 races completed. Winds seem to be up and down between 8-12 knots. So far at 2-0 is Corona del Mar, Point Loma, St George's, and at 1-0 is Broadneck and Annapolis are undefeated! Keep checking for more updates!

Weather was fantastic both Saturday and Sunday with breeze in the 7-12 knot range, sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-80's. On Saturday, all 66 races of the Qualifying Round were completed! Point Loma finished the round in first with an unbeaten record of 11-0. The next 4 teams finished in a 4-way tie for 2nd place with a win-loss record of 8-3. After the tie-break, 3 of the 4 teams qualified in the Gold Round, and one in Silver.

Today's racing got underway after a scoring review and a shake up of the 4-way tie break. Corona del Mar was the unlucky team landing in Silver. The racing went well and the regatta organizers were able to add a second round for the Silver and Bronze fleets to give the competitors more racing.

Point Loma started the day with 2 losses, putting their lead in reach of the other teams. Racing was very competitive, with many very tight finishes & lots of excitement. Point Loma was able to hold on to the win, at 14-3, and Annapolis close behind at 13-4. St. George's rounded out the top three at 11-6, and Shorecrest finished 4th at 9-8. In Silver, Corona del Mar won handily at 13-4 and the Bronze Fleet winner was the Loyola Academy at 8-9.
