Summary

Saturday, April 18:

Day 1 of Gold fleet Champs was challenging due to a 3.5 knot morning flood and a 2.5 knot evening ebb as well as 15-25 knot breeze with gusts in the low 30s in the middle of SF Bay. Races through 6B concluded at 6pm. 11 protests, redresses, and breakdowns were filed that evening. The majority of hearings were heard until 9:30pm on Saturday with the last two hearing Sunday morning.

Sunday, April 19:

Day 2 of racing was a bit more mild. The breeze sustained 15-20 for the majority of the day with gusts in the upper 20s near the end of racing. Current conditions were similar to Saturday. Races through 11B concluded at 3:45pm. 8 protests, redresses, and breakdowns were filed on Sunday. Hearings lasted until 6:45pm and results were made final at 7pm. The tables turned amidst the protest decisions and the top four qualifying positions changed hands many times. Great weekend of exciting, competitive racing.
