2016 MASSA Baker Qualifier

Greeted with overcast skies that gave way to some late day clearing, sailors representing 10 MASSA schools met at Norfolk Yacht and Country Club on the Lafayette River for the Baker Qualifier Team Racing Regatta on Sat. April 30, 2016. Temperatures hovered in the mid 50's and winds ranged from 8-14 mph out of the northeast with minor shifts in both directions.

A full round robin of 45 races was completed followed by division into silver and gold. The four team silver division completed two full round robins. The 6 team gold division completed a round robin with a 3 way tie for third. Tie was broken with a series of sail-offs, and a final four round was completed. A total of 81 races were sailed, making for a very long day of sailing, and a completed regatta. The need for teams to return on Sunday was eliminated.

Congratulations to Christchurch School and Severn School for qualifying for the Baker Trophy ISSA Team Race Championship, and to Norfolk collegiate School and Key School for qualifying for the National Invitational Tournament Team Race Regatta.
