On Saturday May 21, 2016, fifteen teams from 12 Virginia schools met for fleet racing on Mill Creek in Hampton VA for the VISA Fleet Race Championship. Rain and winds were highly variable throughout the day. Racing started with moderate 14 mph wind out of the NW, which clocked to SE, through the midday doldrums, and back again to about 8 mph NW by the time racing concluded in the afternoon. Erratic gusts up to about 17 mph were heavily peppered throughout the day.
Sailors completed 5 windward leeward races in both A and B divisions. Christchurch school Team 1 took first place, followed by Christchurch School Team 2 in second, and Norfolk Collegiate School Team 1 in third.
