VISA Maury 2v2 Team Race Regatta

On Saturday April 23, 2016 eight schools presented with nine teams on the 3v3 team race course and three schools competed on the 2v2 team race course on the Lafayette River at Norfolk Yacht and Country Club. Variable and shifty winds ranged up and down from 0-21 mph with gusts up to 27 mph, clocking from NW to N, to NE, and back to NW. Seas were relatively flat. Racing commenced as the breeze filled in with 2 digital N courses.

On the 3v3 course, a full 36 race round robin was completed. Teams then attempted a silver round and a final four. The silver round was abandoned due to lightning. The final four course was completed with a tie standing for first place between Norfolk Collegiate School Team 1, and Christchurch School. The tied teams participated in a sailoff resulting in first place for the regatta being awarded to Christchurch School, followed by Norfolk Collegiate School in second place, and Norfolk Academy in third place.

On the 2v2 course, four rounds/12 races were completed. Nansemond Suffolk Academy took first place with 7 wins and 1 loss, Grafton High School was second, and Smithfield High School finished in third place.
