WI/IL Spring Series #1

Summary

Saturday, April 16:

The inaugural race of the WI/IL Series was also the first high school event hosted by Oshkosh High School Sailing. Teams were greeted by a warm and sunny day, but the Lake Winnebago breeze proved elusive despite a forecasted 10-15 knot southeasterly. After a morning delay, the race committee managed to run three races in a light northerly breeze before a lunch break.

Unfortunately, before the teams could return to the water the northerly melted away, never to return. Racing was called for the afternoon. Oshkosh West won the day with 3 points in 3 races, followed by Catholic Memorial and Winneconne for the top 3 spots. Despite the challenging conditions, the racing was close up and down the fleet.

A huge thank you to the Oshkosh parents, who did a fantastic job hosting and provided breakfast and lunch for all of the sailors. Another thank you to the Pewaukee Lake sailors for bringing their own boats, which allowed Oshkosh to host this event. The WI/IL Series continues next week at Pewaukee Yacht Club.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
