Thirteen teams representing ten schools presented for the season's first varsity regatta at Norfolk Yacht and Country Club. Five teams from 4 schools competed in the JV competition. The morning air was brisk at about 36 degrees, warming to 46 by the end of the regatta. Winds were northerly ranging from 15 down to 5 mph, with higher gusts.
The varsity course was W4/W3. Christchurch School Team 1 captured first place, followed by Christchurch School Team 2 in second and Nansemond Suffolk Academy in third place.
The JV sailors completed 5 races on a modified windward-leeward course. Nansemond Suffolk Academy took first place, followed by Maury High School Team 1 in second, and Maury High School Team 2 in third.
