Eleven NJISA high schools, making up fourteen sailing teams, competed in the Ocean County College Spring Invitational.
Under party cloudy skies, with temperatures around 60° and a 7-9 mph southwesterly breeze, teams set out to the race course in front of Toms River Yacht Club with A Division completing their first two W4 races and B Division completing one W4 race before the wind completely died off leaving the river glass-calm.
Teams made their way back to the dock and kept themselves occupied on shore during the one hour wind delay, before a light breeze came back into the river from the east. The temperature dropped significantly, and a typical oscillating 8-10 mph ENE breeze filled in to allow sailing to resume. Racing finished up around 1500 hrs with a total of twelve races for the day, six in each division, consisting of sets of W4's and W3's.
The Christian Brothers Colts ended the day at the top of the fleet again, with a total of 40 points combining their solid A Division 1st place and B Division 2nd place finishes. The Southern Regional Rams, placing 3rd in A Division and 1st in B Division, finished closely behind in 2nd with a total 42 points. The Donovan Catholic Griffins made it into the top three with the combined scores of their A Division 2nd place and B Division 5th place finishes for a total of 53 points.
Thank you again to Dave Magno, who optimistically started the day off in flip-flops (but quickly realized boots were more appropriate), for chasing the wind around the river and keeping the course square. Also thanks to sailors from the Toms River East Raiders, Luke and Loring Dunton, for helping out the race committee setting marks and taking scores. As always, many thanks to Toms River yacht Club and Ocean County College for the use of their facilities and fleet of boats and support of high school sailing.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
