SSP Combined - GOLD

Summary

Saturday, March 11:

Saturday morning, 14 Gold Fleet, 14 Silver Fleet and 12 Bronze Fleet teams converged on Sail Sand Point for the annual Combined Division regatta. After a 1015 competitors' meeting, sailors headed out onto Lake Washington for a 1100 first warning. One Gold and one bronze race was completed in a light SSE before the breeze shut off. Glassy conditions persisted for the next few hours until pressure again built from the south. Gold and Bronze headed back out onto the water at 1500. After completing race 2, fleets rotated and Silver and Bronze B got their first time on the water just as strong gusts moved into the race area. Several capsizes and rescues delayed racing but Silver was able to complete a set, followed by a second Gold set. Wind speed (and direction) varied drastically throughout the day from 8-15 mph, with frequent puffs in the 20s as the day progressed.

Sunday, March 12:

Sunday's weather brought less rain and more consistent breeze (5-10 mph southerly). Racing commenced at 1000 and continued up until the 1500 deadline. Overall 8, 7, and 5 races were completed in the Gold, Silver and Bronze fleets respectively throughout the weekend. A big thank you to all the teams/programs, coaches, sailors, and parents for sticking it out through the rain and some challenging regatta conditions all weekend. And an even bigger thank you to our RC group of Glen, Scott, Jim, Philip, Ivy, Jonathan, Jacob, Peter, Tate and all of our parent volunteers on land.

Congrats to the Orcas Vikings on their victory in this year's Gold Fleet!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
