JV Championship Spring 2018

Summary

Saturday, May 19:

A warm, humid morning with patchy, variable southerly breeze lasted for the first A and B rotations before easing around to a southwesterly. One more A rotation was achieved before a looming front rolled in and sent the fleet to shore amid downpouring rain and occasional thunder and lightning. After a hold on shore of nearly an hour, the lightning left and the rain eased up. B division sailors were sent back out to the racecourse. One start, for an L2, was attempted in a very light westerly but the race was abandoned when only one boat was able to round the windward mark and finish the race. After waiting another half hour, a ghostly southerly allowed race committee to run one final L2, starting minutes before the 4:00pm time cutoff. The fourth A race scoring was removed to obtain a matched set of 3 races in each division and make the regatta. Congratulations to Severn for winning the Spring 2018 MDISA JV Championship. Many thanks to our PRO Guy Barbato, Techscore managers Curt and Dottie Hamilton, and many parents, volunteers, and varsity sailors who assisted with race committee, running mark and safety boats, delivering apparel, monitoring the snack table, and keeping everything organized on shore.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
