MISSA Baker Qualifier Gold

After 60 races were completed in two preliminary rounds on Saturday, the teams were placed into Gold and Silver fleets. One full round robin in the Gold fleet (an additional 15 races) was sailed on Saturday before the competitors were done for the day at about 8:15 pm. Silver fleet was dismissed.

Teams moving on in the Gold fleet are New Trier High School, Minnetonka High School, Grosse Pointe South High School, Walter Payton Preparatory High School, and Lake Forest High School and Latin. Congratulations!

Teams moving on in the the Silver fleet are Rocky River High School, West Bloomfield High School, Grosse Pointe North High School, Detroit Country Day School, Beacon Academy, and St. Ignatius College Prep. Rankings are in this order.

Sunday afternoon update: All racing was cancelled today due to lack of wind. Neither Gold fleet nor Silver fleet were able to complete any races on Sunday. Since Silver fleet did not race on Saturday or Sunday, the Silver regatta was cancelled and deleted on Tech Score. Gold fleet raced on Saturday, and those results are final.

A huge thank you to Pontiac Yacht Club High School Sailing parents and volunteers for hosting the regatta, and to the following individuals: Regatta Chair and MISSA East VP Lynn Frikker; PRO Jim Allen; MISSA Central VP Zack Hernandez; chief umpire Cliff Black and his team of umpires; chief judge Dennis Bartley; scorekeepers Kathy Johnson and Julie Dziuba; the hospitality crew who made sure the sailors, coaches and volunteers were fed and hydrated; and the many other individuals who stepped up to assist on and off the water to make this a safe and fun regatta for all involved.
