The regatta started on time at 10am with shifty winds from the Northwest coming right off the Eastern Promenade of the City of Portland. 8 to 15 knots of wind and flat water with shifts of 20 to 30 degrees made for challenging conditions for the sailors. After one general recall in the first race and a few over earlies for the A division the races started getting off well. In all there were 6 races for both divisions. The race committee used W3, W4 and W5 courses for a good variety with fairly long legs. In the end the wind went light for the last couple of legs of the B Division's 6th race and it was determined that the course would need to move to the east to more open water but there wasn't enough time to get in another set so the regatta was ended.
