Ridge White Classic

It was a cold start to the Annual Ridge White Classic on Sippican Harbor today, but the sun came out and the temperatures moderated and it turned into a great day of racing. We chose to use a triple round-robin format to more closely mimic the format at New England's. The race committee (Trevor Britton and Dave Bill) did a great job pushing the races along and the competitors dealt with the shifty breezes very well. There were no protests filed.

Ridge White was the sailing coach at Tabor in the mid to late 1970s, winning the O'Day his final year. He helped lay the ground work for the program prior to Toby Baker's arrival in 1979. An active boater, Ridge left Tabor to work for the family business that still produces the annual Eldridge Tide and Pilot Book. Ridge still have a boat in Sippican harbor and are regular visitors to the school. This regatta is in honor of his service to the Academy.
