SAISA Brunswick Open Regatta

Summary

Saturday, February 10:

The SAISA Brunswick Open Regatta, hosted by the Golden Isles Community Sailing Center, was held in the East Brunswick River at Brunswick Landing Marina in Brunswick, GA. Eleven schools competed, and two also brought JV teams. The team listed in the results as Richmond Hill Composite was actually a split team, with Richmond Hill’s JV team sailing A division and John Paul II’s team sailing B division. Wind was out of the southeast at 5 knots at the start of the regatta, increasing to 10 knots by the end of the regatta. It was foggy all morning, so thick at times that it was impossible to see the leeward mark from the windward mark. Despite the fog, there was a breeze, allowing the boats to race in the fog, and there were never any postponements. By afternoon, the fog had lifted and it turned into a beautiful sunny day. Eight races in each division were completed. There were no protests. Congratulations to Wando High, taking first place in both divisions and overall! In B division, although the Techscore results suggest Richmond Hill took second place, it was actually John Paul II that took home the second place trophy, as they were sailing the B division of a split team (couldn’t figure out how to make that reflect clearly in Techscore.) Many thanks to Brunswick Landing Marina, the volunteers from the Golden Isles Sailing Club, and all the sailing team members, parents, and coaches who made the regatta possible.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
