SAISA Silver Fleet Championship

Summary

Saturday, April 28:

Carolina Yacht Club, Wrightsville Beach, NC was host to the First SAISA Silver Fleet Championship on April 28th. Conditions were outstanding!!

The morning Westerly wind shifted as expected to the South and filled into a comfortable 8-10 knots. There were few clouds and the temperature reached 67 degrees with a water temperature of 67. The tide changed midway through the regatta, providing the sailors the opportunity to race with and against the tide.

7 teams competed and were able to sail 4 sets in each division. All teams, parents, and coaches displayed great sportsmanship throughout the entire regatta. After 16 races, the difference between team overall 1st and 2nd place came down to the last race of the day. A shoutout to the 8th grade sailors who will be pushing (leading?) the fleet for years to come.

Thank you to PRO Chip Till, Judge Jerry Thompson, Event Organizer Bill Smith, Co-hosts Cape Fear Academy and John T. Hoggard, The CYC Staff, and the volunteers for pulling together a great event.

A special thank you to the sailors and families who travelled to participate.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
