Sharon Invitational

The regatta began with cloudy skies and a NNE wind up and down from 8 - 12 knots. The first two rotations of A and B were run in these conditions with the wind slowly clocking to the East. For race 5A the wind moved back toward the North and dropped to 3 - 4 knots as the race started. It dropped further making it a struggle for the sailors, but just enough to keep the RC from abandoning the race. The fleet turned into packs with very messy mark roundings at the leeward gate, and places were reshuffled. After a delay, the RC decided to start race 6A at the first puff of new wind. The wind held at 6 - 7 knots with a minor shift further to the North. Between the sets the wind had some dramatic shifts between North and West, but settled to NW. The time limit was fast approaching to complete races 5 and 6 for B, with the final race started just 3 minutes before the cutoff time. Dover-Sherborn sailed consistently and won the day, followed by Winchester and Wellesley. A few penalties were taken on the water and no protests filed.
