Temperatures hovered in the mid 70's. Winds during racing were generally S, with a shift to SW just as racing was concluding, at 10-15 mph throughout the morning with gusts higher. Seas were bumpy.
Twelve teams from nine Virginia High Schools met at NYCC on the Lafayette River for a final fleet race of the season under looming threat of high wind and downpours with a plan to take advantage of weather window and then get the sailors off of the water before the storm. Sailors were able to complete 7 combined division 18-20 min. W-4 races. Boats were hurried to seek safety at the docks and were tied down just moments before a squall hit.
Norfolk Collegiate Team 1 took first place, followed by Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in second place, and Kecoughtan High School in third place.
