MASSA 2019 Spring Silver Fleet Championship

Summary

Saturday, April 13:

Sailors arrived bright and early ready to sail. The wind however failed to arrive until 1:30 PM. After a lengthy postponement, A division jump at the chance to head out on the water and race. 4 races in each division were completed with sailors battling both each other and a changing tide in the light breeze. Report time for Sunday is 9:00 AM, with racing to begin immediately following protest hearings.

Sunday, April 14:

3 Protests were heard in the morning before racing started today resulting in 2 DSQs. Racing began with the wind building from the south. Sailors contended with a heavy flood all day as the breeze shifted to the south west. Race Committee members, including WAC sailing alumni; Alex Smith, Hannah Schmidt, Allison Cochran, and Bridgette Hindt set the course for 2 sets in each division. Congratulations to Christian Brothers Academy for their 3rd place finish, Broadneck High for their 2nd place finish. Leonardtown High qualified for the Phebe King Memorial Regatta with their 1st place finish. Thank you to the sailors who travelled to Chestertown to compete and to Washington College for hosting in their new boathouse.
