In the third attempt to complete the regatta, five NJISA teams took part in the 2019 Spring Team Race Qualifier on Monday, April 8th. Twenty Digital-N races were completed in two and a half hours with a westerly breeze at eight to 12 knots.
The regatta came down to the very end when Rumson-Fair Haven defeated Ranney in the 20th race to finish undefeated (8-0) and clinch the victory. Ranney was second with a 6-2 record, while Southern Regional was third at 4-4. The top spot (and likely second place) qualifies for the MASSA Baker Team Race District Championship to be held in Norfolk on the last weekend in April.
It was a league-wide effort to complete the regatta on a Monday with Jason Lutz (CBA) serving as PRO, Mike Ehnot on the finish boat, and Clay Johnson (Ranney) & Dave Magno umpiring and patrolling. Thanks to Dr. Nunn for lending his Whaler for the start boat and to TRYC & OCC for the use of the facility and fleet.
