SAISA Girls Champs Gold Fleet 420

Summary

Saturday, March 30:

Flashlight Sailing anyone? It was a gorgeous day in Jacksonville, FL; however, gorgeous did not translate to a positive relationship between breeze and current on the St. John's river. With the largest turnout at Girls Champs in many years, and in order to sail as many young women as possible and hold a competitive Championship, some creativity was called for. Sixteen Varsity and 4 JV teams were randomly divided into 2 groups of 8 Varsity/2 JV groups to fill a set of qualifying races in 420's and FJ's with no rotations.

Upon completion of 2 races in each platform, the top 5 Varsity teams from each platform were placed into Gold Fleet (sailed in 420's). All remaining teams and the 4 JV teams were placed in Silver Fleet to sail 3 races in FJ's. With the sea breeze not filling until very late in the day, the majority of sailing was amazingly completed as the sun began its descent. All races are listed separately within TechScore.

A huge debt of gratitude is owed to Coach Jon Faudree , the Jacksonville University sailors and Tim Monahan from Florida Yacht Club for their support, patience and persistence to get this regatta on the books!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
