Severn Spring TR 12 boats

Conditions today were fresh: NW wind 8-25 knots, with large oscillations that generally kept to a median. We had the race course pretty well set in the middle of the left/right range, so the sailing was fair. Very strong gusts and wind chills below freezing caused the FJ fleet to be shelved; we went with just the 12 z420's. Our regatta featured full-time umpires (no coaches needed) Geoff Becker, Anne Arnold, and Dobbs Davis, and that made a difference, with more consistent calls and oversight, allowing coaches to focus on their teams. We were able to complete a complete round robin for 8 teams, and then a final 4 for the top four teams, Severn 2, Severn 1, St. Mary's, and Bethesda-Chevy Chase. In the end, Severn 1 emerged victorious, with Severn 2 in second, followed by St. Mary's in third. Thanks to the Severn Race Management Team who did a great job today running races: Zander King, Teddy Cromwell, Alex Brenia, Cole Petrinko, and Hayden Lamb.
