SSP Combined Division - GOLD

Summary

Saturday, March 9:

150 high school sailors from the NW descended on SSP for the annual Combined Division Regatta. This format is designed to group like skilled teams in an appropriate fleet. This year saw 16 teams in Gold, and 16 in Silver, with a Bronze event being held concurrently at Seattle Yacht Club.

After a 1045 competitor's meeting and a short postponement, a light north-north-westerly started to fill in around 1230. By 1345 the breeze had solidified from the north and remained in the 10-12mph range for the rest of the day. 6 Gold fleet races and 4 Silver fleet races were completed. Races were W4s and ranged from 20-25 mins for the 32 boat fleet.

Sunday, March 10:

At noon, after a lengthy morning postponement, a faint wind line started moving down the lake from the north. RC were able to squeeze in two more Silver fleet races starting at 1300 in 3-5mph breeze before the northerly sputtered and started to turn off at 1415. Faced with a 1500 deadline, Gold fleet was send out on the water in a patchy but consistent light northerly. Race 7 Gold was started at 1455 as another wind line brought 10-12mph breeze just in time for the last race, a 12 min W3.

Congrats to the Olympia Bears for coming away with the win in Gold fleet.

Big thanks to the RC volunteers: Tate, Pete, Larry, Jeanne, Jessica, Jennifer, Chris, Paul, and Jim.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
