Rock the New Year

Racing commenced at 1300 hours as planned. Winds were out of the south at 4-8 knots; temps were in the low 70s, dropping slightly as the day progressed. 12 boats from 3 schools competed throughout the afternoon, sailing 4 different courses (2 races each): The Harry Anderson course, the Harry Anderson Modified course, the Butterfly course, and the Open Bic Open Cross course. These are unusual and challenging courses making the regatta particularly fun. Good sportsmanship and camaraderie were notable. Sailing concluded after 8 races at approximately 1600. Competitors and their families drove to Saint Stanislaus (the host school) for jambalaya and other food around an outdoor fire pit. Awards were presented to the winners: 1st Place - Saint Stanislaus (Rockachaws 3), 2nd Place - Ben Franklin (Falcons 3), 3rd Place - (Ursuline Academy Lions 1). An outstanding day all around.
