2021 CT State Girls Fleet Racing Championship

Summary

Sunday, May 23:

Five teams consisting of some of the top female sailors from all over Connecticut were treated to awesome conditions on the water. Breeze started as a moderate oscillating northwesterly that made for a compelling race course when the easily-visible puffs were factored in. Coaches from all participating schools teamed up to run Race Committee, which got in six races before the wind velocity started to really escalate.

Many thanks to Mac Sykes and Dave Ornstein for bringing their private powerboats to act as sub boat and mark boat, respectively. Thanks are also due to the four teams that traveled to the bottom left corner of the State for this event (particularly those that had to spend A LOT of time on busses this weekend), as well as to all the coaches that participated in running this event. A big shoutout goes out to Coach Emilie from Greenwich Academy who provided some awesome female leadership on the water as PRO.

Congratulations to the Cardinals of Greenwich HS on winning the 2021 CT State Sailing Championship for Girls Fleet Racing. Kudos to the Gators of Greenwich Academy as well for finishing as a very close second.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
