The 2021 NJISA spring sailing season got underway on Saturday with the annual Icebreaker Regatta at Toms River Yacht Club. Twelve teams from 10 schools made up the fleet on a 48 degree day. The 11:30 a.m. delayed report time allowed the breeze to fill in from the southeast direction by the 1:00 p.m. first race. In just about three hours of racing, four sets were completed for a total of 16 races.
Toms River North was the quickest to shake off the rust, winning by one point over Donovan Catholic. The Ranney School, Christian Brothers Academy, and Southern Regional completed the top-five. Donovan topped A division, while TR North handedly won B division.
Many thanks to Dr. Nunn for serving as PRO, Dave Magno for running the mark boat, and Jason Lutz for keeping the scores updated. Thank you to TRYC for welcoming the NJISA back for another season, the BBYRA for supplying the FJ fleet, and OCC for use of the 420s.
