For the first time since Fall 2019, the NJISA held a qualifying regatta for a district event!
The 2021 NJISA Spring Fleet Championship saw 13 teams battle it out for a chance to advance to the MASSA Mallory Championship in two weeks. Sailors had plenty of breeze throughout the day, as the wind oscillated between a west and southwest direction. Much of the regatta was sailed in nice 10 to 12 knots of breeze, with some gusts ranging into the higher teens at times.
A full 13 races were completed in each division for a total of 26, all of which were of the W4 variety.
Toms River North and Christian Brothers Academy jockeyed for the lead throughout the day, but it was TR North who used a steady dose of consistent afternoon finishes to secure the victory. With CBA as the runner-up, Donovan Catholic, Ranney School, and Biotechnology completed the top five.
CBA's Ryan Ehnot and Mitchell Hnatt won a tightly-contested A Division, while North's Everett Botwinick, Iliana Vasslides, and Lindsay Walsh won B Division.
TR North, CBA, Donovan, Ranney and Biotech will represent the NJISA at the District Mallory Regatta in two weeks, which will be held at TRYC. The 6th through 10th place finishers - Delbarton, Southern Regional, Toms River South, Rumson-Fair Haven, and Central Regional - have qualified for the MASSA Silver Championship in St. Mary's, Maryland.
Thank you to the race management team for putting on a great event: Dr. Randall Nunn, PRO; Dave Magno, Mark Boat; Jody Lutz, Mark Boat; Harry Foote, U.S. Sailing Judge; Pris Gettis, U.S. Sailing Judge.
Our thanks to the Toms River Yacht Club for allowing the NJISA to use the club facilities, as well as to the BBYRA for supplying the FJ fleet and OCC for use of the 420 fleet.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
