NJISA 2022 Icebreaker Regatta

Summary

Saturday, March 19:

The 2022 spring sailing season got underway with the NJISA's annual Icebreaker Regatta at Toms River Yacht Club.

It was a picture perfect day to have the first event, with temperatures hovering around 65 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. The morning began with a southwest breeze at 8 to 12 knots, but started to die out as midday approached. Luckily, a seabreeze filled from the south, and after a brief course reset, steadied at a nice 10 to 15 knots for the rest of the day. In total, 16 W4 races were completed by 3:30 p.m.

Donovan Catholic was the quickest to shake off the winter frost, using ultra-consistent sailing to win the day by 18 points over Christian Brothers Academy's first team. CBA's second team, Southern Regional, and Toms River North were third through fifth. Donovan swept both the A and B divisions.

Many thanks to Dr. Randall Nunn for serving as PRO, Dave Magno for manning the mark boat, Mitchell Nunn and John Kirk for assisting on the RC boat, and Jason Lutz for handling scoring. The NJISA is excited to be back at TRYC and sailing the BBYRA FJs, and we thank both organizations for continuing to support high school sailing. Here's to another great sailing season!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
