MDISA JV Spring Championship

Summary

Sunday, May 21:

North East Yacht Club, home of The Tome School and the North East River combined team, hosted the MDISA JV Championships for 16 teams. It was a beautiful sunny 76F day, with good wind ranging 9 to 15 knots all day, gusting up to 19 knots. There was a Bake Sail, and lunch was available from the Club restaurant.

After a brief Coach Meeting discussing eligibility, the Skipper Meeting was held and launch began. First warning was 10:25AM. Races averaged 15-20 mins. Protests were heard on shore in between rotations. Five full rotation sets were completed.

Congratualtions to all the competitors. It was Championship conditions and you rose to the challenge (even if some of you capsized a time or two)! Many thanks to the Race Committee and support boats, as well as the Dockmaster and Protest Committee.

Congratualtions to Leonardtown High School for finishing 1st, and to The Gunston School and Saints Peter & Paul School for thier 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.

This regatta was reviewed by the MDISA League Director and approved as a JV Championship.

5/25/23 update- Review of participants revealed violation of  4.2 (b) in the procedural rules. Penalties were applied and the scores recalculated.
