Bellingham Gold Team Race Quals

Saturday started off with light wind of 4-5 knts from the SE, with the first race starting around 11:30am. Wind stayed light and shifty, with the wind dying and shifting east in the early afternoon causing races to be postponed on the water for 30 min and then ashore briefly. A stronger southeasterly of around 10-15 knts filled in by 2pm, allowing for racing to continue for another 2 hours before the wind picked up to over 20knts and racing was called for the day.

Sunday started more consistent southeast breeze of 10-15knts, with the first race starting around 10:00am. Wind was puffy but the direction stayed consistent, allowing for lots of races and the completion of the second round robin by 2pm. The regatta was completed, and three practice races were completed to get more sailing time. Thank you to PRO Scott Wilson and the volunteer race committee, including many WWU sailors, and to our shore parents and volunteers for organizing registration, awards, and food. Many thanks also to all of the teams and sailors who competed, and congrats to the Olympia, Bainbridge, and Port Townsend teams for taking 2st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively.
