MASSA Girls Championship

Summary

Saturday, May 4:

It was a picturesque Saturday in May, perfect for day one of the MASSA Girls Championship. The gentle northern breeze and Niagara River current posed a challenge, leading to two general recalls before the first race commenced at 10:40am. Despite the light winds, sailors managed to complete two races before the breeze faded entirely, prompting a return to shore for rotations and a wait for wind. Thankfully, by 2:30pm, the breeze returned, allowing for two more races. However, on the final leg of race four, the wind shifted dramatically and waned. With race four completed, sailors were called in for the day at 4:30pm.

Sunday, May 5:

Day two of the MASSA Girls Championship dawned overcast, but the rain held off as competitors prepared their boats. With a steady five knots of breeze from the southwest, the first race kicked off at 9:30 am. As thunderstorms loomed nearby, sailors completed three races before seeking refuge at the dock to wait out the potential storm. After a 45-minute delay, they returned to the water for more racing. Race nine proved challenging as the wind gradually died down, leading to a prolonged downwind struggle against the current for many boats. Wrapping up after race nine, sailors made their way back to the dock to conclude the day's events. Congratulations to all the sailors for their perseverance and skill!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
