2026 NESSA Fleet Racing Championship(O'Day Trophy)

Summary

Saturday, May 9:

Teams arrived at noon to find a building SW breeze that topped out at 15 kts with higher gust. Six races were sailed in each division. There were three protest resulting in one RAF, one DSQ, and two request for redress for an incident where one boat fouling another who almost capsized, but got its mast locked between the forestay and mast of another boat. One request was granted, the other was not. A request for redressed for scoring will be heard Sunday am at 0830. All who are interested are invited to attend.

Sunday, May 10:

Mother's Day greeted the sailors with SSW breeze 7-9kt. PRO Brent Jansen got the fleet started at 1000 sharp. Six more rounds were sailed in each division. One protest and one redress from yesterday were re-opened with no change in the results. One school received two DSQs for breaking ISSA PR 4.2(a).

Thanks to judges, race officials, the Hyannis YC staff, and the coaches who helped make the regatta flow well. And congratulations to Barrington HS - first time winner.

Barrington HS, St George's School and Brunswick School qualify to represent NESSA at the Mallory Trophy in New Orleans, LA in two weeks. Greens Farms Academy, Greenwich HS, Greenwich Academy, and Dartmouth HS qualify to represent NESSA at the Phebe King Regatta in Annapolis, MD also in two weeks.
