2026 NWISA Fleet Race Championships

Summary

Saturday, May 9:

The day started with a light northerly that shifted west, then died, then went north again, causing a few course changes and a short on-the-water postponement. The wind then died, and finally filled with 4knts from the west in order to allow for an 11:30am start. It shifted WSW and S throughout the day, causing another course adjustment around 12:45pm and again at 2:00pm before the wind settled into 7-8knts from the SW for the rest of the afternoon. Racing ended around 5:00pm, with protests heard at the public boat launch ramp into the evening.

Sunday, May 10:

Sunday started with a southerly on the horizon, filling in to a nice 6knts SW to start off the morning. After a couple of course adjustments in shifty S to SW conditions, the wind came up to 12knts from the SSW around 11:30am, causing some chop and bigger seas which made things exciting and required the course to be lengthened. Racing continued throughout the day in similar conditions, with some 3-5knts up and down causing some minor adjustments in course length. Racing went right until cutoff at 3:00pm.

Congratulations to Olympia High School, who won 1st overall and a berth to Nationals with a combined score of 69 points, Bainbridge High School, who won 2nd overall and the second Nationals berth with a combined score of 83 points, and Gig Harbor High School who won 3rd overall with a total of 99 points.

Congratulations also to all of the NWISA seniors, many of whom this was their last race of the season!

Thank you finally to all of the volunteers who made it happen: PRO Scott Wilson, signal boat, scorers, markset, and judges. Thank you also to all of the visiting teams, especially those who brought boats early Friday evening for measurement.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
