NJISA 2026 BBYRA Spring Invitational

Summary

Saturday, March 21:

The 2026 NJISA spring season got underway a week later than scheduled, but 17 teams were greeted with a pleasant Saturday of sailing for the annual BBYRA Spring Invitational. A chilly morning made way for abundant sunshine by early afternoon, as temperatures rose towards 60 degrees. A morning northwest puffy breeze shifted east during the warm afternoon hours. Overall, 12 races were completed by 1600 hours.

The competition for the historic BBYRA Rooster Flag came down to Christian Brothers Academy's team one and Southern Regional. A late push by CBA 1 earned them the victory by just a single point over Southern. CBA 2 finished third, closely followed by Donovan Catholic's team one. CBA's Christopher Small and Christian Diaz won A Division by a point over Southern's Jude Ryon and Sergio Santos and Pingry's Megan Soos and Avery Hoffman. In B Division, Southern's Gannon Botwinick, Mia Linkewich and Ella Linkewich won the tiebreaker over CBA's Jules Buczkowski and Edward Solodiky.

Thank you to Dr. Randall Nunn for running the races and Dave Magno for tending to the course. As always, thank you to TRYC for having us back for another high school sailing season and to the BBYRA for continuing to partner with us on the FJ fleet.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
