A picture perfect October day in Central Ohio for the 18 teams that descended on Hoover Sailing Club for the Olentangy regatta, and the final leg of the Buckeye Cup for 2018. The sailors were greeted by 5-8 knot breezes that shut down for a short time between sets 2-3 before coming back in at 10-12 knots. 6 races in each division were sailed and Westerville North once again showed us all how it was done, winning their 3rd regatta of the fall. New MISSA East team Bay High School finished 2nd and Olentangy Liberty finished 3rd.
Many hands went into making this regatta a success: John Hoctor (TWHS) ran great races all day, Shilah Griffeth (WNHS) fed the masses again making sure no one went away hungry, and Sarah Hoctor (TWHS) provided real time scoring updates and designed our great trophies.
Special awards were presented to the all-female teams of St. Joseph Academy as well. Finally, the Buckeye Cup series was awarded to Westerville North High School, winning 3 of the 4 regattas in the fall series. They were followed by Bay and St. Ignatius.
