SAISA North Points #2 - Varsity

Summary

Saturday, October 16:

SAISA North Points #2 was sailed on October 16 at Crosswinds Boating Center with an elevated viewing area for coaches and spectators to watch the racing on beautiful tree lined Jordan Lake near Raleigh NC. Twenty five teams, 11 Varsity and 14 JV / Composite, from NC, SC, and GA sailed eight races in 6-14 knots with gusts to 18 out of the Southwest. The wind conditions provided an excellent test for the sailors and resulted in tight racing, a few capsizes and many close finishes on the WL twice around course. James Island from the Charleston sailed consistent all day and won both A division and B division in the Varsity classification. Only 2 points separated the next 3 teams with John T Hoggard from the Wilmington area improving throughout the day to take second place, followed by Hilton Head Prep and Cape Fear from Wilmington respectively. In the overall scoring including the JV teams, John T Hoggard JV White finished 4 th place as the top JV team. Thanks to the many volunteers who helped both on the water and onshore to put on a first-class high school regatta.
