2016 MASSA District Mallory Championship

Summary

Saturday, April 16:

The WaterFront Center welcomed 18 MASSA teams from Rochester to Norfolk to West Harbor, Oyster Bay, for the District Qualifier. Racing on Saturday began on schedule with first gun for A division at 1030 in solid N/NE breeze at approximately 8-10kts. As the day progressed, the wind shifted E/NE and ranged from 0 to 8kt. A total of eight races were completed for A division and six for B division.

One protest was filed and heard, resulting in a DSQ. One file for redress was heard and disallowed.

Sunday, April 17:

With best intentions, the fleet headed out to attempt a race in a dying northerly. Racing was postponed due to lack of wind. An attempt at one final race resulted in abandonment due to lack of wind. As a result, A7 and A8, sailed on Saturday, were dropped to allow a total of 6 races in each division.

Thanks to PRO Dave Waldo, Judges Kevin Keegan, Jimi Grover and Peter Braune and WFC high school volunteers for contributing time and talent to the event.

Congratulations to all teams and good luck to Christchurch, Key, Mamaroneck and Rye Country Day Schools at the Mallory National Championship.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
