NJISA Spring Fleet Series 4

Summary

Wednesday, May 4:

Ten NJISA high schools, making up thirteen sailing teams, competed in the 4th of the NJISA Spring Fleet Race Series regattas.

A weather system that included wind, rain and lightning slowly passed over the region during the afternoon, but by 3:30 the lightning had moved out of the area and the teams headed out in the rain and 8-12 mph NE winds.

Two W4 and W3 races were run in each division for a total of 8 races for the afternoon. The rain eventually stopped, the sun was out for a few brief moments, and then the breeze built to include gusts to 16 mph, providing challenges to the sailors with gusty and shifty conditions.

The Christian Brothers Colts ended the day on top with a total of 22 points, with the Ranney Panthers right behind in second place with 24 points. The Southern Regional Rams rounded out the top three with 35 points for the afternoon, with the Toms River North Mariners one point behind them in fourth place.

Thank you to all the sailors, coaches and parents who patiently (or reluctantly) waited for the storm to pass so we could get out on the water for the afternoon.

As always, thanks go out to Toms River Yacht Club and Ocean County College for the use of their facilities and fleet of boats.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
