Culver Spring Regatta

The day started with a thunderstorm delay that lasted until 1130. After weather passed, RC launched boats, but wind shifts all over the compass caused delays and 4 course resets for another hour. First race started at 1256 in a shifty 3 knots WNW breeze. The wind all but disappeared by the end of the race, so postponement for lunch, all boat to the dock. After Lunch, the breeze stabilized from N to NE at 5 kts. All boats out, race 2A run nicely at 1500. Rotations to B division, race 1B ran in 5 knots, start at 1530. Wind then became shifty as 2B started, but held generally from NE at 5 knots. Race 2B finished at 1540 with another lightning storm approaching. All boats sent in, RC called it a day. We are hoping for better breeze tomorrow to get more races on the score sheet.

The day started with a nice 6 knot breeze from the north, which promptly disappeared as the RC finished setting the course at 0930. After a two resets and postponements, race 3A started at 1027. Due to the very light wind and slow race, RC opted to get 3B running to assure a complete regatta. After another no wind delay, 180 degree shift and course reset, 3B started in 3 knots and finished at 1247. At this point it was the unanimous decision of the team coaches to call the regatta.
