The 2019 NWISA Fleet Race Districts was hosted out of Seafarer's Park in Anacortes, WA this weekend. Thank you to our PRO Steve Orsini and the many other volunteers who donated their time to help run this regatta. The course for the 20 boat Gold Fleet was set in the northwestern part of Fidalgo Bay.
Saturday began with clear, sunny skies and a light and shifty 5 knot northerly that moved northeast by the end of the day. Due to the variable winds, there were multiple course changes and only 10 races total were completed in the Gold Fleet, 5 in each division. 2 races in Gold had to be abandoned due to wind shifts.
Anacortes, Fidalgo Bay, day 2 of the NWISA Fleet Racing Districts. Sun with temp in the 60s. The course for Gold Fleet was again set, in the NW part of the bay. 20 boat Gold Fleet was the NWISA Districts qualifier with Steve Orsini as PRO.
Conditions were ideal for FJ sailing. The wind filled in from the NE by 10:00am, reaching 15 knots by 10:30am, then averaged 10 knots through the last start precisely at 15:00 hrs. 12 races in total were completed. Courses alternated W4 to W3 per rotation except the first which ran two W4s and the last which was W4 then WL, ensuring completion of an even rotation in accord with the SIs. There were some course alterations to accommodate a NW oscillation after 13:00. No races were abandoned.
At the end of the day, Olympia High School took home first place, followed by Sehome High School in second place, and Orcas High School in a close third. Congratulations to all of the sailors. Thanks again to all parents, coaches, sailors and volunteers who helped make this a great regatta!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
