Westerville Classic

Summary

Saturday, April 27:

A fantastic day of sailing on Hoover Reservoir as 16 teams from around the state of Ohio joined us for the Westerville Classic. Doug Squires (TWHS) and his band of race managers quickly got us started at 9:45 with our first set and moved thru the day with ease as winds in the 10-15 knot range kept the sailors on their toes.

16 races were completed well in advance of the cut off time. No breakdowns reported and 4 protests resulting in 1 DSQ were filed.

Our hearty congratulations to the Columbus teams that completed the sweep of the event: Westerville South in 3rd, Olentangy Liberty in 2nd and Westerville North in first, by a whopping 50 points!

Many hands make light work, and this regatta is a perfect example of that. Thanks to Shilah Griffeth (WNHS) for feeding all of us, Sarah Hoctor (TWHS) for keeping the scores updated through the day, Max Friedauer (OLHS) for making sure we all ended up in the right boats and Kari Friedauer (OLHS) for managing the masses at registration. And of course a shout out to our coaches Jamie, Jeff and Dave for leading us in the right direction both on and off the water!

Sunday, April 28:

No racing on Sunday as regatta was completed Saturday.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
