This was the last of the four tier 3 events hosted for the JV sailors by the Chicago Yacht Club. The race committee had its hands full with the wind conditions. The plan was for the sailors to do three races and then rotate between divisions throughout the day. The winds didn't cooperate with us as we spent almost two hours just to get the “A” division through three races. The race committee quickly found that wind shifts of 180 degrees really made it hard to reach any satisfactory balance after setting up close to shore. They decide to move the entire course away from the shoreline in order to get a more steady and consistent breeze. Although initially, it appeared to be a sound idea, they were still losing out from large wind shifts and inconsistent wind pressure. The race committee made the call to end the day after almost three hours to get in three races for the “B” division. The tough wind conditions did not seem to disturb anyone, as everyone seemed to have a good time.
