The Weather app was right! Seas were choppy with cloudy blue skies. Weather was chilly in the low 60s. Winds were low (4 to 11 knots) with significant guts to 18; blowing westerly clocking west- northwest. Needless to say, we experienced some capsizing today!
13 teams from 11 schools participating in today’s regatta. We were able to complete 16 W4 races. Congratulations to the mighty Oaks from Norfolk Collegiate for capturing 1st place, followed by the superb Saints from Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and and rounding out in 3rd place the fighting Bulldogs from Norfolk Academy!
Thank you to our wonderful Joe Kilgore for performing your PRO duties with a smile! We also wanted to thank the race committee, we couldn’t be successful without you. Special thanks goes out to Walter McKenna for the wonderful snacks on the start/finish boat. We did not leave hungry! Lastly, we wanted to thank the ever-so-popular and loved Joan Patterson for her continued guidance and support!
