The CYC Belmont Station was abuzz with excitement as sailors arrived for the start of the MISSA season. Despite light snow flurries, the excitement for the day didn't stop. The sheets frequently froze during racing due to the 32 degrees temperatures and northwest to north winds ranging from 8 to 15 knots. Despite the cold weather, the race committee and sailors managed to run 8 well sailed races in each division. After some close racing at the top of the fleet, the leaders are Walter Payton, Lake Forest High School, and St. Ignatius (Chicago).
After waking up to some beautiful sunshine, everyone expected a great day on the water until they stepped outside into the 25-degree air temperature. MISSA's representative, Coaches and Race Committee concluded that not sailing on Sunday would be the best course of action. Christopher Collins, our Race Committee PRO, had broken the bad news to the sailors, which was greeted with jubilation.
