The MDISA Team Race qualifier started off with a nice 7-10 knot West Northwest breeze on Saturday making it fairly easy to set a course right off the SSA pier for great viewing. The goal for the weekend was getting 2 full round robins in, with a possibility of a final 4 bracket. As the day went on, we dealt with a lot of shifts on the racecourse that was handled very well by our Race Committee, and we were able to complete a full 2 round robins by 5pm. Since our Top 4 was set, and the breeze was forecasted to be 15-20 knots on Sunday, the teams agreed to call it a regatta on Saturday. In total we got 30 races in on Saturday with Severn School finishing first, Spalding finishing 2nd, St. Mary's finishing 3rd and Broadneck wrapping up our top 4. Congrats to these 4 schools as they will all be competing in the MASSA Team Race Qualifier April 30-May 1st at the Naval Academy.
Also, we wanted to give a big shout out to our amazing Race Committee this weekend. Mark Bennett (PRO), Dina Kowalyshyn (DRO), Bill Carty, Charlie Carty, Jay Herman, Ron Weed, Ronny Weed, Billy Martin (Chief Umpire), and 3 Navy sailors (Linnea, Aubin, and Faith).
No sailing was done on Sunday, as we were able to complete the regatta on Saturday.
