18 teams divided into two groups of 9 set out at the goal to complete two concurrent round robins at the 2019 Trick or Treat Team Race, hosted this year on Anacortes' Fidalgo Bay in 24 CFJs. To managed the 18 team entries, teams were seeding into either the Werewolf or Vampire Division, sticking with the Halloween regatta theme.
After a 1030 competitor's meeting, racing began at 1130 in 8-12 mph northerly breeze. 32 races were completed by 1530 when a series of gusts in the rotation area made continued rotations, and team racing, challenging for competitors. Racing was called for the day.
Breeze filled in around 1100 and Race 34 was attempted in an easterly, but abandoned. After a course readjustment to accommodate the arriving northerly, another 22 races were completed throughout the day in up and down breeze averaging 4-5mph.
After 56 races, although the round robins were not quite 80% complete, a close percentage victory went to Bainbridge in the Werewolf Division and Garfield in the Vampire Division, with Ballard winning the costume contest!
Thanks to Anacortes for hosting, Kevin Pratt, and PRO Steve Orsini, and their team of volunteers. Happy Halloween!
