MISSA Great Lakes Championship

Summary

Saturday, November 3:

20 qualified teams from MISSA converged at Chicago Yacht Club to compete for the annual Great Lakes Championship. A light ENE breeze allowed for 6 races to be completed in each division with difficult conditions, as the sea state nearly exceeded the wind state at times.

Sunday, November 4:

Competitors were greeted on Sunday with drastically different conditions. With wind gusting in the 30s out on the lake, the decision was made to sail inside the harbor. While this brought shelter, it also presented sailors with very shifty, gusty sailing on a condensed race course. 6 leg races were run until the time limit of 3:00 pm, allowing for 13 races total in each division.

Congratulations to our winner, Minnetonka HS who took the event with an impressive 64 point lead over second place.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
