A regatta-record fleet of 25 varsity and 16 junior-varsity competed on Hollywood's North Lake in seven races for two divisions in the South Points 1 regatta. Shifty, 7-12 knot breezes in the lee of Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville and amidst a slew of anchored vessels challenged novice and national-champion sailors alike. PRO Tom Lihan's expertly laid course, tended by a dozen on-the-water volunteers from the Lauderdale Yacht Club, made for a great racetrack, while the grill team ashore gave them hot food to look forward to ashore.
Great way to start the South Points season. Thank you to Race Committee, volunteers, coaches, sailors and parents. We had a record number of boats on the water--nice to see so many JV teams and composite teams! Always great to have as many sailors competing as possible. Many thanks to our grill masters. Sausage, burgers and peppers were outstanding. Looking forward to a great season, thank you all for attending.
The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
