MASSA Spring Silver Fleet Championship

Summary

Saturday, April 14:

Today was sunny and warm with wind clocking around from the north at 10 Knts with gust to 15/17 knts. Eighteen Schools sailed in the event. A total of 12 races were sailed in each division (A & B). The top three overall finishers are: 1) Yorktown Patriots; 2) Key Zags; 3) Kecoughtan Warriors.

Numerous protests were heard throughout the day, with 3 boats being DSQ. Two boats had redress due to equipment failure. Racing started at 0930 and ended at 1700.

It was decided that due to the possibility of weather approaching tomorrow afternoon, that racing will begin on Sunday an hour earlier, and ending an hour earlier as well (0800 - 1300).

Sunday, April 15:

We began sailing Sunday an hour earlier at 0800. A total of eight (8) races were held, with 4 races in each division. Racing was ended by 1300 hours with all boats off the water before the rain. At 0800 there was little wind, which filled in nicely at the time of the first gun. Air was light from the South typically under 10Kts. The conclusion of the series saw the top three finishers as Key, Yorktown and Kecoughtan.
